Inspiration comes too late
I spent a long time mulling over a title for this comic. I pride myself on my ability to come up with names for things, and my specialty is puns and dumb wordplay. I named my junior high school newspaper. I named the final exhibition for my museum studies graduate school program. I will not tell you what those titles were, because they were terrible puns that should not be preserved in connection with the Google Search results for my name.
Some of my favorite ideas for the name of this here comic were sadly scrapped because the URL was already taken (I’m looking at you, rollertoaster.com.) Some were just lame (Bread Sandwich?) I’m pretty happy with the title I ended up with, largely because when you Google it you get me and a bunch of stories about food poisoning.
Or at least, I was happy with it until today. Today I came up with the best stupid title for an embroidered comic strip, particularly if it were about 75% more like Ziggy than this comic currently is:
“Notions.”
Ew, right? Ew, on so many levels. I love it.

I like “Stricken Pot Pie” better than “Notions” because “Notions”, while cute and perky and oh so domesticated, leaves less room for for the occasional moment when a thought can startle you and leave you pondering your perceptions. “Stricken” can do that. I figure the “Pot Pie” stuff just has to do with putting things together that don’t belong together.
